communications
"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to
answer every man." - Colossians 4:6

Communication is a skill and a talent that touches every aspect of our lives. As
children become more confident in their ability to communicate they are able to
blossom into the person God has created them to be for their special purpose in
life. This class is Christian based and focuses on the fundamentals of
communication in a creative and fun atmosphere. The ultimate goal of LifeShine
having a communications class is to help children gain confidence to stand up for
their values and share the love of Jesus with others.

Topics for grades 2 and up include: Persuasion, Confidence, Credibility, Presentation, Audience,
Listening, Witnessing and much more.
Kinder and 1st grade topics include: Social Graces, Making Friends, Building Vocabulary, Giving
Directions and even Public Speaking Skills.

bible / worship
Each session begins with the students joining together
for a devotional, prayer, singing, the pledge of allegiance
and announcements. Bible lessons are taught by
teaching staff and special guests.
music
Music will be taught with an emphasis on theory - the
nature and mechanics of music. Students will learn the
basics of rhythm, melody, and pitch using a variety of
musical instruments.
recess
Our exercise and recess time is designed to increase body
awareness, balance, flexibility, coordination, and
strength. Students participate in structured and
unstructured play.
science
Our science program is designed to provide essentials to
give students the skills to observe things around them,
ask questions (wonder) about that which they see, and
then logically pursue those questions. Our program is
very hands-on and minds-on with almost every concept
reinforced by an experiment, activity or demonstration.
snack / lunch
Each child must bring his/her own ready-to-eat food for a
morning snack and lunch. We ask that children refrain
from sharing their food with others due to food allergies.
We also recommend that your child carry a water bottle
in his/her backpack as an easy way to keep hydrated
throughout the day.
spanish
The instructor uses an interactive, hands-on approach to
learning. Students are familiarized with the phonetics of
the language, but the focus is on communication through
role play, games, songs, and stories. Topics include
colors, calendar, clothing, foods, greetings, family, and
much more! Students are provided with the opportunity to
extend their language practice throughout the week using
a CD, mini-books, and review exercises.
